MISSION STATEMENT : Totally Positive Productions (TPP)
To produce positive rap, singing and dance competitions in financially disadvantaged urban communities. Established for youth 9 to 19 as a creative outlet and as a deterrant to gang and drug involvement. EDUCATIONAL FOCUS : TPP staff educates performers who are largely made up of rap artists and need to pass over from 'street talent' to professional talent. Research indicates the key audience complaint in rapping is too fast dialogue, degrading of women and explicit words. Since only positive words devoid of profanity or misogyny are allowed, it is necessary to teach acts how to craft positive phrasing and vernacular. In addition, with the mission to redirect children from gangs, the staff also teaches performers confidence in their abilities and how to picture themselves as successful performer. CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP : TPP is seeking corporations that are willing to underwrite the 12 competitions that would be held in Chicago and would act as catalyst for national rollout when refined.
